On April 25, 2019 I started the “Pink Girls Run The World (PGRW)” blog with my first post titled “The Original Pink Girl: Where There Is A Woman There Is Magic.” A home for all of my travel thoughts and adventures, I kicked off my 2019 birthday with a party celebrating another year around the sun and the launch of my new pink themed blog. Changing the narrative around travel that may make it seem impossible for some people, PGRW connects real life stories to travel that every girl—and some FAB guys—can really relate to,
something that not only feels authentic, but connects all of us as humans (not just me as a woman of color). Sharing these narratives connect us in a special way across the globe.
Leaving an inspirational trail of pink glitter wherever we go, the Pink Girls Run The World (PGRW) MOVEMENT encourages women to fill their lives with adventures, not just things.
When I took my first solo trip at 20, I had no idea how much of the world I would see over the next couple of decades and now I have spent 1-year blogging about those adventures. Over the past 52 weeks I have dedicated 1 blog post week on the PGRW platform to sharing the adventures that have impacted me the most.
It’s currently a hard time to celebrate a birthday, whether that birthday is a very first one, a Sweet 16,
or a 39th (again!?). With social distancing in place, all of the usual celebrations are, for the most part, off-limits: no dinners out; no bowling-alley, arcade, or pool parties; no swarms of children swatting at a piñata. But no more joy? We refuse that! With 2020 festivities on hold, the global pandemic has stopped me from celebrating the way I wanted to in Bali. Determined to not let all that has been going on in 2020 stop me from being great, I am grateful that I was able to use Zoom to keep the party going with friends. In preparation for the party, I created pink themed party favor packs that I shipped to each virtual party guest. I decorated a traditional birthday cake with fresh pink roses, blew out rose gold candles and was surrounded by a pink bouquet as I sipped on sparkling rose. Guests wore pink party hats and blew pink party whistles as we kicked off the celebration with the Megan The Stallion “Savage” Remix featuring Beyonce. I loved the
opportunity to reminisce on how we met and our fondest memories.
