Hey there, wanderlusters and fellow adventurers. If there is one thing that brings joy to life, it’s the bond between sisters. A sister being a little bit of childhood that can never be lost takes on a new meaning when you didn’t grow up in the same household as your sister. I love how travel has enabled us to create a space where we can embrace new experiences as adult siblings, while making memories that continue to cultivate the bond that we have built over the years. We took our 1st trip with friends in 2017 and decided to go on our 1st sisters’ trip to ensure we got to spend more time together in 2020.
This year we decided to go West. Nothing can compare to the restorative magic of Joshua Tree and the California High Desert. It’s a place you’ll leave feeling grounded with a different level of self-awareness. It was even more special for us because our stay at AutoCamp Joshua Tree (9 minutes/6 miles from the gates of Joshua Tree National Park) was during the Perseid meteor shower, typically the most impressive of the year with the highest number of shooting stars in the night sky.
Our journey began when we landed in Palm Springs with excitement in the air and a car playlist of our favorite 90s songs (belting out hits at the top of our lungs during our road trip tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop). From the moment that our Dodge Charger pulled up to the doors to our pink oasis at the Sands Hotel & Spa, we knew this trip was going to be something special.
I scooped up the cutest Tory Burch sandals during a Desert Hills Outlets pit stop and ate the yummiest crab stuffed poblano at Azucar Restaurant and Bar. Sitting down for drinks or meals, offered an opportunity to share our struggles and goals. I found it therapeutic to have this space to catch each other up on the chaotic details that life can throw your way.
The desert is inherently spiritual with a vast openness that also encourages quiet introspection. We definitely wanted to take advantage of this more chill vibe found under the stars in Joshua Tree. We have hiked quite a few trails together over the years, but were drawn to glamping offering an outdoor recreation with lush amenities and hotel service. The shared laughter, exhausted yet fulfilled smiles and endless opportunities for photo sessions made our time at AutoCamp Joshua Tree unforgettable.
Amid our desert adventure, at-home spa treatments in our refurbished Airstream and lazy hours by the pool allowed us to reflect on the incredible moments that we shared so far. Heart-to-heart conversations and dreams woven under desert sunsets made this time precious.
As the sun set on our adventure, we couldn't help but feel a mixture of nostalgia and contentment. While our sisters' trip had come to an end, the memories we created will forever remain etched in our souls. The shared laughter, the spontaneous dance parties, and the sense of togetherness were the true souvenirs we carried back to the East Coast.
To all the sisters out there, remember that life is short and the world is vast. Don’t wait for the perfect moment…create it! Until our next Pink Girl adventure.
